9. Encourage patients to prepare for going back to work


Step 9 of 11 in getting ready to return to work:

 

While off work, most cancer patients lose work conditioning. Whether or not they have had treatment, fatigue is a common experience after initially returning to work. Encouraging patients to expect and plan to address fatigue as they regain conditioning at work can be helpful. You may consider reviewing with your patient strategies that survivors can use to prepare themselves for going back to work.
