Discussing return to work early on with your patients, other healthcare providers and employers gives time to address the concerns of all involved when looking at options for a return to work. Planning collaboratively will more likely result in a successful return to work. The healthcare provider role in the planning process can involve:
- assessing and providing information about the survivor’s current abilities
- anticipating challenges and discussing how to address them
- monitoring the survivor’s progress after return to work
- addressing any new or ongoing challenges
